From the time #DreamDenver was established as a brokerage, #Zillow has been a source of contention. In one way they provided potential leads to real estate agents . The other caused real estate agents to fight against the large amount of incorrect data that Zillow provided. They created a page for essentially every home across the US that was entirely misleading to the end customer - the #Zestimate. In fine print they would explain the price could be upwards of 20% off depending on the area. This did not matter to the home buyer or seller as the individual just ‘assumed’ a massive company couldn’t have produce an algorithm that explains the homes value and it be wrong. 🥸 As an industry we received comments of “why would I believe you when Zillow says”…. But here is why! There is not an algorithm that can account for each individual sub market. The algorithm cannot understand the human component that goes into pricing a home. Zillow’s algorithm and random deductions to the seller before purchasing the home (to ultimately flip houses on a large scale) is complete and total bullshit. Now they openly admit their inability to predict house prices and lost $422mm, on top of firing 25% of their workforce. 🧐 Sure blame it on COVID… while our founder flipped a few homes during this same period.
